Our stories matter.

The story bug bit me back when I stumbled into working for PBS.org. I haven’t stopped telling stories since.

Our stories matter.

Once upon a time…

When I was in my 20s, working for PBS, I was leading a workshop for independent filmmakers about how to tell your story online. At lunch, as I worked my way down the buffet line, one of the filmmakers came up to me.

”So,” she asked. “Are you a producer?”

“Oh, no,” I said. At that point in my life, I saw myself as someone who helped other people tell their stories — not someone who told my own.

“Huh,” she said, looking at me…and I mean, really looking at me. “You seem like someone with stories to tell.”

I am.

And guess what?

You are, too.

If you’re ready to tell your story, my company, Mighty Forces, can help.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.

I dream of a world where our media and culture are filled with diverse, authentic stories from people of all walks of life — a world where all of us feel seen, important, and included. My career has been all about making that dream a reality:

  • Helping documentary filmmakers translate the stories they spend years of their lives making to the web, where they can reach people all over the world

  • Advising nonprofit organizations and socially conscious businesses on how to create compelling content that advances their mission (hint: it always comes back to getting clear on the story you want to tell)

  • Coaching amazing change makers and creative souls to discover and share their voices, their stories, and their ideas in authentic and consistent ways — especially online, where they can have exponential impact

I invite you to consider the stories that shape your world. Whose stories are you consuming — and whose aren’t you consuming? What stories do you tell about yourself — and which ones don’t you tell, and why?
